Good Evening my pumpkins! I hope your Labor Day weekends were full of sunshine, beer in a can, grilling up hotdogs (tofu dogs for my veg friends) and lots of laughter. I went through a bit of a sad spell thinking that summer is now over and I can no longer where white. Well just remember, we still have almost 3 weeks of summer lovin, and based on my beliefs, I wear what I f@c&ing want.
My Labor Day holiday was a full weekend of working, birthday partying, figuring out I am most certainly lactose intolerant, rental car driving, and having an outlet mall shopping adventure. You know the usual Americana weekend festivities–>What? ? You didn’t experiment with a fancy grilled cheese sandwich and viola! now you’re on a hard core prescription of ice cream flavored lactaid pills like me? Woe is my life.
But forget about the lactose issues, the busy Sunday Funday at work and the long drives down I-90 highway, my weekend was really focused on my blog and thinking about how I can make it even more interesting! Whilst I was shopping at a very chic and 40% off everything Banana Republic outlet store, where I purchased a new mustard yellow skirt and Kelly green sweater, I had a blog epiphany. I want to write some letters to the things in my life that I am either loving or hatin on– food, clothes, boys, people, furniture, the bug that constantly visits my apartment for a jolly good ole’ scaring—> you know, the usual twenty somethings ramblings.
So after having a mild panic attack in the Gap outlet store, which is a story for another time, I got my idea for the first post of my new blog series, An Ode To.
First up, “An Ode to: The Cobb Salad”
The Cobb salad is not a new culinary creation. But, it is in fact brand new to me. Believe it or not my first Cobb was this summer! My virginity was taken by a lad named Michael Diversey–well my Cobb salad virginity anyway. Michael Diversey’s is a local restaurant that has modern takes on traditional food and they also feature Trivia Tuesdays–what more could a twenty-something, pop culture loving girl ask for in a dining spot? It wasn’t until I walked through those doors awhile back at Diversey’s, that their Cobb salad would in fact change my life. Since this afternoon luncheon, the Cobb salad has been calling my name. Sometimes so many times that I have had a Cobb salad three times a week! My eyes peruse menus searching for a Cobb to fill my stomach’s void. Yes, I am now a Cobb convert.

The crisp lettuce is the perfect base for more fixings than I could ever ask for. A hard boiled egg, fatty bacon, flavorful grilled chicken, tangy blue cheese, crunchy cucumbers, ripe tomatoes, creamy avocado all come together in flavor unison. After its all chopped together, one bite is all it takes, and silence comes over me. I have found my newest love….a salad that is probably the same in calories as a Whopper and fries, but in the moments I am eating, thoughts of calories and fat fly out the window because taste is what I am thinking about. It tastes damn good and I don’t care how many miles I will have to run or how many minutes of hot yoga I will have to downward dog through, because when it comes to food I will never sacrifice flavor for lesser calories. Who cares if my pants are a tad snugger because I just had the best salad of my life.
Now, I think I need a cigarette.
Xoxo,
Lo

Hell yeah Cobb salad! It's such a big deal that my phone capitalizes Cobb; see, there it is again! What a blast of a wknd you had. That white clothing rule is such a crock. Let's wear ripped white denim all winter long.
I really need to try a Cobb.
I remember the day that I found out I was lactose intolerant, and then the day I found out I was allergic to dairy. Sad I am sorry that you have to deal with that, the worst!I do loveee cobb salad too, in fact I had one from Panera yesterday at lunch!
remember that winter clothes are really just summer clothes with leggings and a jacket. only fools think otherwise, this is not 1902. on that note, lets dress inappropriately and make some cobb salads for a fall picnic on the beach with a nice warm bev. in a thermos. x's and o's. ylime.
It's the bacon and avocado combo that gets me every time. No matter what, if those two are together on the menu, I'm ordering it!
My sister & Dad are lactose intolerant.. kind of a pain but they definitely make it work and it seems like only certain dairy products upset their stomach..hopefully it is the same for you!! I like your idea for your blog, so cute! I don't eat meat anymore but i do loove cobb salads with egg & avocado.. so good.
Cobb salads are amazing. You have me to thank
I eat them all the time and force myself into thinking im eating healthy…NEVER look at how many calories are in one of those things!
Michael Diversey's salads are the best in the hood!
