So what have I been doing lately? Trying not to pull my hair out from this little guy:

Benny’s first Fall. Playing in the leaves is becoming is favorite past time.

Benjamin Louis- aka, Benny, is our 3 month old Beagle puppy.  We spent the past two months researching dog breeds, rescue organizations and breeders.  We found Benny when he was just 7 weeks old (via GotBeagles.Org) but he was not quite ready for adoption.  His mom and dad were living in a foster family’s home when Benny and his siblings were born.  He is the runt of them all-weighing 6 pounds.  Surprisingly he was the LAST one picked for adoption! I found this shocking since he is the absolute cutest.

Our first time meeting!

He has been with us for 5 days and he has brought so much joy to our lives.

Has anyone ever raised a puppy and successfully potty trained them?  We are definitely working out the kinks that comes with being new parents.

  1. OMG. I don’t even like dogs, but that picture could change my mind.

  2. Be Consistent and work together always!

  3. we inherited two puppies at the same time back in February and thank god my husband had raised a puppy before because it is kind of a nightmare at first. BUT! it’s totally worth it. potty training definitely sucks when the weather is sheisty, so I feel for you on that front, but I’ll second the advice to be consistent, be firm, lots of love and rewards for behavior you like. and I totally lecture my dogs, which my husband thinks is crazy, but they really look so sad and remorseful after a stern talking-to :) good luck!

  4. That just may be the cutest puppy I’ve ever seen!

  5. too cute for words!! congrats on your lil boy!!

  6. Oh my days, I am such a sucka for a cute puppy. A part of me wonders why puppies can’t be like that forever!
I have 2 doggies and just as I think I’ve cracked the toilet training there’s a little puddle…
I’ve had a good browse of your blog and am loving being nosy, and I look forward to reading more about your world in Chicago.

  7. Ahhh, so exciting! A puppy is on my “wish list” this Christmas so I’m gonna be needing all the advice anyone is willing to give me :P I was young when we got our first dog so I don’t remember much of the training process, other than cleaning up her accidents, ha!
